Weather disturbances can cause a whole lot of problems and accidents in households. Fallen power lines for instance is one weather-related problem that could just happen.
So what if a power line hits a home? What should a homeowner do to ensure the whole household’s safety?

Third-Party Service Ratings Website Angie’s List came up with a list on what to do in the case a powerline falls on a home. Builders and Contractors
“Do not touch any downed wires. Call your power company so that they can address immediate safety issues, then call a licensed electrician to appraise and repair any damage to your electrical service. Note that most power companies will not restore power until your electrical service has been deemed safe by your local town or city electrical inspector.”

Dangers of a fallen power line
Fallen power lines can cause home fires. Pakistan news company The Nation has published a report about a downed power line affecting a home in one of the towns in their country. Electricians
“Three persons died and two others sustained injuries when high power electricity line fall on a house in Gulbahar area on Sunday. The house was owned by an Afghan national Kabir, rescue officials said. The high power lines were hanging over part of the house which caused the incident, resulting in killing of three persons and injuring two others.”

Center Point Energy meantime came up in its website important safety tips for homeowners who may encounter fallen power lines.
“If You See Downed Power Lines: (1) Do not go near downed lines or fallen wires. (2) Stay away from anything touching downed lines (tree limbs, vehicles, puddles, etc.). (3) If someone already made contact with a power line, do not try to rescue them. You can’t help if you become a victim. Call 911.”
